As a novice copywriter, I cut my teeth on blog posts for tech gurus and fundraising materials for an Olympic athlete-turned-entrepreneur. I gradually pivoted toward journalism, but founders liked my punchy copy, which conveyed a unique sense of confidence and reliability to their audiences. Over and over, I saw opportunities to help both new business owners and seasoned entrepreneurs sharpen their branding through elevated written content.

It wasn’t until I’d spent about 10 years balancing my journalism and copywriting careers that I realized I could leverage some of these brand-building skills to ignite a full-fledged business of my own. I recruited Maria and Tallulah—two incredible writers with the heart, grit, and skill necessary to make a modern copywriting agency work. Soon after, 99 Degrees was born, named both for my surname and for the toasty weather we enjoy here in Phoenix, AZ, where much of our content hits the page.
